File under things I didn’t know until I started mod-ing ZS: turns out, mods have complete control to edit submissions! So regardless of how it was submitted, we’ve been editing the posts to include a standard looking  ‘To’, ‘From’, and a note (if the Santa wanted to include one). And we are tagging the to and from usernames so they link back your blogs! But here are some additional guidelines in case you’re interested.

Fic

• Go ahead and copy and paste your whole fic into the submission box. We can put it under a ‘read more’ on our end. 
• If you want to include a message to your giftee, go ahead and put it at the top of your post. It helps us out if you bold or italicize it or something, but if you don’t, no worries! We’ll see it!
• Some people have been putting their fic titles in the title section. That’s fine if you want to do that! We’ve been leaving it as is. But not everyone has done that so it’s really up to you! 
• If you want to link back to your Ao3 that’s fine! Just refer back to this post on how to do that (and actually even if you just want to paste the URL in the submission box we’ll be happy to create a link for you).
• It also helps us out if you want to mention at the top any ships or potential warnings we might want to include in the tags. 

Art

• If you only have one image, uploading as a picture shouldn’t be tricky.
• Go ahead and include your message in the text portion of the post.
• If you have more than one image you can either upload it to an external site, then put them in a text post OR you can send an email to our mod account (zecretsantamods@gmail.com) with your images attached. Include in your email your username, your giftee’s username, and any message you might want to include. Then we can make a post with multiple images from our end.

ALSO if you have any notes that you don’t want to have published and are more for the mods like ‘Ugh this took me forever, and I’m not sure I love it XD’. Go ahead and make a note like For the Mods: ~~~ or Please Delete this:~~~~ . We’re also going to assume you guys want us to delete technical messages like ‘Can you please make sure that the first paragraph is italicized! ty!’). So I guess, don’t be afraid to leave us a note with instructions! We will read it and do our best to follow through!

Ah, yeah. I’m so sorry! We had initially thought the due date was going to be the 18th, but then decided the 20th would be better. I mistakenly put the 18th on the original post with all the info, even though our info page has always said the 20th. 

At any rate you have until December 20th to get submissions in! And then we’ll begin posting them on the 21st! (Though of course, you are more than welcome to get them in before that!)

Good question! Please submit all gifts (both fic and art) to this blog! Our submission box can be found here. That way we can make sure everyone has a gift before we start posting them. We do ask that you don’t post your fic to Ao3 (or other fanfic sites) until around the same time as we’re posting it here. 

But what you can do is upload your fic to Ao3, save it as a draft (’Preview’ –> ‘save without posting’), then you’ll have a url to link to in your submission. If you do this we’ll be happy to message/email you to give you a heads up as to when we’ll be posting your submission. Then you can go and post it to Ao3 at around the same time we upload it here!
